Fiberglass are cheaper too than average products use for garage doors causing it to have people using it. Since fiberglass is a reinforced plastic material composed of glass fibers embedded in a resin matrix, it is cheap.

  • Semi-transparent

Since fiberglass is glass so it is expected to have a characteristic which it being semi-transparent. It being semi-transparent is an advantage because it allows light, allows natural light to come through the garage. When light comes through it provides sight inside the garage when it’s dark and without artificial light like a florescent light, that is expensive to buy. So, if you have troubles financially or simply don’t want to use a lot of money then this product is perfect for you because it is cheap and it provides you proper light that doesn’t need any artificial lighting.

Disadvantages

  • Privacy

Since the product is semi-transparent it is expected that people outside can see what is inside of your garage. When you want to have privacy or simply don’t want to have people looking inside your garage then it is a throw off if you have a fiberglass garage door. Although it is semi-transparent which means it is only partially transparent which means it is not that clear, people can still see what is inside your garage, if you have private things inside it then it is a not recommended to use. So, if you don’t want your privacy to be invaded then this product is not for you because it is semi-transparent.

  • Durability

Fiberglass’s durability in winter can be questionable, since the fiberglass is semi-transparent and light it is expected that is not that good of an insulator. The glass can be a brittle if it is exposed to a very bad and cold area that is why using a fiberglass in winter is a big no. It is better if you use the fiberglass in warmer places because it allows heat to escape and be trap. So, if you live in a cold place or experience winter every season then this fiberglass material is not a good material to be recommended to you.
