Caddo to give away free donkeys; auction off abandoned horses
Caddo Parish Sgt. Doyle Smith has temporarily adopted someone else's pets. He has been caring for six donkeys and four horses at land in North Caddo Parish. The animals were rescued by the sheriff's office after they were abandoned on the side of a highway.

Humane Society gains custody of 18 horses, donkeys rescued Jan. 6
In a disposition hearing held Monday in a Vernon County Court, the Humane Society of Missouri received permanent custody of 16 horses and two donkeys rescued Jan. 6 from the Tom Reardon property near Milo, Mo. When rescuers arrived on the property, one of the horses was near death and lying on the ground.
